Canadian Music Fest 2010 is proud to present Plants and Animals, Winter Gloves, The Acorn, Think About Life and The Russian Futurists at Lee’s Palace on Friday, March 12 as part of The Billions Corporation Showcase.

Since Parc Avenue was released in early 2008, Plants and Animals have played over 150 shows, circling the Western world more than once. The highly anticipated follow-up, La La Land, will be available April 20, 2010.

With only a handful of live shows behind them at the beginning of 2009, Winter Gloves had already received invitations to join bands like Tokyo Police Club on a series of sold-out tour dates. Such well-attended shows helped spread what was already becoming the wildfire of their EP Let Me Drive. From the upbeat, dance-inducing tracks to the mellow head-nodders, about a girl is a debut bursting with songs as immediately warm and welcoming as the band’s name suggests.

Anchored by vivid songwriting and eclectic instrumentation, The Acorn produce an original brand of experimental, popular folk music that effortlessly marries modern and traditional forms. Since the release of Glory Hope Mountain in March 2008, The Acorn have graced the cover of Canada’s National music magazine, Exclaim, and were nominated to the 2008 Polaris Award long list.

Think About Life is a gargantuan three-headed party creature! The band’s self-titled debut recording, Think About Life, as released in 2006 on Alien8 Recordings. They began touring the U.S in late 2005, opening dates for Wolf Parade and Art Brut, as well as touring in Canada and Japan. Family, the follow-up to their self-titled LP, was released in Canada, May 2009.

With three internationally acclaimed releases already under their belt, The Russian Futurists, born and bred in cold and lonely eastern-Ontario, came home with their first ever domestic release: Me, Myself and Rye. The album, an amalgam of their hottest songs assembled from previous albums, is the perfect introduction for new listeners and a gift to be treasured by the ultra-fans who’ve supported the band from the beginning.
