The Einar Flaa Academy is a four-man-gene-pool which stems from Jenkaboy, which came out of Nunatak, which again leapt out of the brain of Einar Flaa, a genuine pop smith from sunburnt and rural Stokke in Southeastern Norway. With him in The Einar Flaa Academy, Einar has some of Oslo’s most delicate men. The band was originally put together in a shelter room when the first hints of the swine flu came across from Mexico in the fresh of 2008. Popular on demand as they were top scientists, the Academy felt put to flight. Soon enough they took to strings, saxophone, keys, voice and drums. It was time to change course. The musicians called themselves by the names of Jonas Drag (bass guitar, handclaps, backing vocal), Ole Marksten (electric guitar, saxophone, keyboards) and Joachim Trana (drums, backing vocals)…and, of course, Einar Flaa, by now a face so familiar to the public that he didn’t even bother changing his name. In the Fall of 2008 Joachim left Oslo and headed for rainy Bergen, where they make French noises instead of pronouncing their r’s correctly. In came Aleksander Oxholm, the son of the caretaker of the shelter room. Having played the drums in various bands since the age of eleven, he was quite the obvious choice. And in November that very same Fall, The Einar Flaa Academy appeared in public. They played one Saturday evening in Mono, the hottest club in Oslo, before returning to their shelter. Today, The Einar Flaa Academy play their instruments because they need to. They have also moved to another rehearsal space and written a lot of new songs. This one has even got a window in it!
