CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST OFFICIAL SHOWCASE IN GERMANY
Canadian Music Week is proud to announce our upcoming showcase of “export-ready” Canadian artists. This time up, we’re headed to Hamburg’s notorious “The Wicked Mile” for the Reeperbahn Festival to present Vancouver’s Mode Moderne, Charlottetown’s Two Hours Traffic and Montreal’s Socalled in CMW’s first official German market showcase. Spanning the nation and ranging from an eclectic mix of hip hop, indie rock and avant-garde pop, the three acts will perform at Canada House inside the Hörsaal venue (Spielbudenplatz 7) on Friday, September 21st, 8:00-10:00pm.
Now in its 7th year, Reeperbahn Festival, made up of three components – Music, Campus and Arts – presents an international platform for more than 200 up-and-coming new music acts to showcase in Germany’s infamous red-light and entertainment district. Besides offering an exceptional opportunity to perform in front of the region’s leading industry personnel, it has developed into one of the most vibrant international music business conferences in Europe.
Canadian Music Week will be bringing Germany into focus for delegates at CMW 2014. One of the most important markets in the world for live as well as recorded music, it ranks #3 worldwide with revenues totaling $1.47 billion in 2011. It is home to numerous large music festivals and music industry conferences such as Reeperbahn, and in 2011, saw its concert revenues rise by 22%. Through a dedicated program of activities, Germany’s vibrant music market will be explored and its potential for export opportunities will be revealed.
