TORONTO – March 12, 2012 – Slacker Canadian Music Week welcomes platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and self-taught multi-instrumentalist – and recently declared Canadian citizen – Paul Rodgers in an intimate celebrity interview and acoustic performance on Saturday March 24 at 2:45 p.m., Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto.

Paul Rodgers’ career spans 43 years and counting. Within them, he has formed and led three of rock’s legendary bands – Free, Bad Company and The Firm – along with his own career to worldwide success. He has written, recorded, produced and released 30 albums which have gone on to sell over 90 million in total. His songs have left an indelible mark on music – topping several charts and winning numerous awards – while his voice has earned him acclaim as one of Rock’s greatest singers.

A consummate writer and performer, Rodgers’ has recorded and/or performed with the who’s who of rock – including Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Brian May, David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, Joe Walsh, Slash, Nils Lofgren, Charlie Watts, Bryan Adams, Motown’s Sam Moore, and The Four Tops while continuing to tour internationally. His most recent efforts can be heard on Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan, Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International, where Rodgers lends his vocals, arrangements and production prowess to “Abandoned Love” along with Nils Lofgren. The song is just one of the tracks from the album being released for sale for the first time. Additionally, Rodgers’ newest studio recording, “With Our Love”, was released this past December and made available exclusively on-line via CD Baby, and all other digital retailers. One hundred percent of the sale proceeds are directed to The Racehorse Sanctuary & Rocking Horse Children’s Charity and Seraphim 12 Foundation – all of which are organizations to which Rodgers has offered significant support in the past.

Following a nationalization ceremony last October, where he lead the group of 100 new Canadian Citizens in singing the National Anthem, Rodgers was declared a Canadian citizen. Currently residing in British Columbia, he has called Canada home since marrying former Miss Canada Cynthia Kereluk.

To see and hear Paul Rodgers in this unique setting, visit www.cmw.net to register as a delegate or purchase a limited ticket to this individual event.

In November 2003 I Mother Earth performed their LAST SHOW; a nearly 4 hour performance that saw the band play in the round at a SOLD OUT venue, and off they went… There was no big announcement, no final Tour or Best of CD/DVD, just a simple note on the IME nation website that said “thanks to the fans“.

In the summer of 2011 three members found themselves geographically tied together in the Tanna brothers’ old stomping grounds of Peterborough ON. So after an 8 year hiatus Jag and Christian Tanna hooked up with vocalist Brian Byrne, and it was inevitable that the discussion turned to music… The jamming started once a week… then twice a week, and eventually Jag came in with new ideas that were undeniably IME. They decided a “Whaduyathink?” phone call was in order to bassist Bruce Gordon (now a member of the Blue Man Group Production in Orlando Florida) to get his take on actually tracking some new IME.

With Bruce in and the new material taking shape the band accepted an offer to perform at Sound Academy as a part of a 102.1 the Edge event at Canadian Music Week. on March 23rd,The Show Sold out quickly and a Second Sound Academy show was added on March 22nd

The Bright Light Social Hour is an American rock band from Austin, Texas. Born out of a university art-rock collective, The Bright Light Social Hour has evolved into an unabashedly wide-screen rock group, melding fists-up rock and roll with muscular funk, soul, and psychedelia. The band recently swept the 29th Annual Austin Music Awards during SXSW 2011 with an unprecedented 6 wins, including Band of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

Replete with their vital sound, deep brotherhood, and ever-growing facial hair, The Bright Light Social Hour are an absolute must see band that is steadfast in their singular aim – enduring rock and roll.

Southern Ontario reggae rockers ‘dodger’ have had 2 albums produced by Jag Tanna and bring diversity to the bill. The Five Piece seamlessly jumps from Punk to dub, Reggae to Rock and becomes an intense roller coast ride to the last note.

TORONTO – February 2, 2012 – Iconic Canadian pop-rock group, Treble Charger, will be inducted into the SiriusXM Indies Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel as part of the 12th Annual SiriusXM Independent Music Awards (“The SiriusXM Indies”) at Canadian Music Week (CMW). The awards acknowledge, promote and honour achievements of Canadian and international artists in the independent music sector.

Since forming in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario more than 20 years ago, Treble Charger has established itself as a mainstay of Canada’s power-pop sound. Their debut full length album, nc-17, released in 1994 became Canada’s best-selling indie record at the time and brought them commercial attention through airplay on MuchMusic and college radio throughout the country. With an intuitive sense of technology and camaraderie in their community, Treble Charger released their follow-up self-titled EP with an accompanying CD-ROM zine featuring 30 of its favourite Canadian indie bands.

With each subsequent album, Treble Charger refined its cutting–edge sound and delivered singles worthy of multiple JUNO Awards nominations including Best Rock Album, Best Single, and Best Alternative Album throughout the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Their albums Maybe It’s Me and Detox have both been certified gold by CRIA while Wide Awake Bored went platinum on the strength of lead single “American Psycho” and consistent touring.

Treble Charger’s energetic performances have fueled audiences around the world, touring with the likes of Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Our Lady Peace. Despite several personnel changes within the group, the band proved its versatility by continuously pumping out new music that its audience wanted to hear. After various side projects and breaks the band officially disbanded in February of 2006.

After almost a decade apart, founding members Greig Nori and Bill Priddle will reunite for the induction to bring back such hits as “American Psycho” and “Red” – two of the band’s signature tracks.

Tickets for the SiriusXM Indie Awards are on sale now for $39.50 plus taxes through all Ticketmaster outlets, Rotate This, and Soundscapes, as well as online at www.ticketmaster.ca. Ticket buyers may also call 1-855-985-5000 to charge by phone.

In addition to this presentation, the 2012 SiriusXM Indie Awards will honour the achievements of 140 deserving artists across 28 categories when nominations are announced later this month.
