1. What is Canadian Music Week?

A: Now in its 28th year, Canadian Music Week (CMW) is the single longest running and premier conference focusing on the business of Music, bringing together Sound Recording, New Technology and Broadcast for one spectacular week of events. CMW combines informative, intensive conferences, a cutting edge trade exposition, a film festival, award shows & Canada’s biggest New Music Festival – Canadian Music Fest.

2. What is Canadian Music Fest?

A: Canadian Music Fest (CMF) is Canada’s largest new music festival.  It is the festival component of CMW, which spans over 5 nights of performances, with over 700 showcasing bands at over 45 live music venues in downtown Toronto.

3. When is CMF?

A: Canadian Music Fest 2010 takes place March 10-14, 2010 in over 45 live music venues throughout downtown Toronto.

4. Who’s playing at Canadian Music Fest this year?

A: You can check out the entire CMF schedule online at www.canadianmusicfest.com/schedule or by picking up one of our Festival Guides, available at participating venues in March.

5. Are minors allowed into Canadian Music Fest shows?

A: You must be 19 years of age or older to attend, unless the show is stated to be “all ages”.

6. How do I get into a Canadian Music Fest show?

A: You can purchase a Canadian Music Fest wristband, tickets to select individual events, or you can take your chances by paying at the door the night of the performance. To learn more or to purchase your passes, check out www.canadianmusicfest.com/wristband

7. How do I get into the CHUM-FM FanFest show?

A: The only way in, is to win. No tickets or CMF wristbands will be accepted at this show. You must listen to CHUM-FM for details on how to win tickets.

8. Where can I purchase my CMF wristband?

A: Easy! On-line at www.canadianmusicfest.com/wristband Wristbands can be mailed to you in advance or you can pick them up at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel during posted hours only. Check out http://www.canadianmusicfest.com/wristband to find our pickup hours. Wristbands are only good for CMF 2010.

9. My CMF wristband was lost or stolen!

A: Wristbands will not be replaced if lost or stolen. Please remember that wristband sales are FINAL. No refunds.

10. Do I need a ticket for a CMF showcase if I have a CMF wristband?

A: No, but you should check each showcase on the schedule for any restrictions that may apply.  Even if you already have a CMF wristband, you may still wish to purchase a ticket in order to guarantee you entry into a specific CMF showcase. Wristbands do not provide you with guaranteed entry, but they do provide you with guaranteed no cover at club showcases.  Remember – all shows are subject to capacity.

11. What does my CMF 5-Day Festival wristband get me into?

A: The wristband gives you access to over 700 new local and international artists showcasing in 45 clubs over the 5 days. You also gain entry to Canadian Music Week’s Music For The Screen Film Festival. You are guaranteed no cover at all CMF showcases with the wristband. However, you are not guaranteed admission to all shows with the wristband. Each show is subject to capacity, and some shows are strictly hard ticketed events.

12. What does my CMF VIP Access Wristband get me into?

A: Access is similar to the 5-Day Festival wristband, but gives you exclusive offers including but not limited to: priority access to club showcases, film festival screenings, select Keynote or Celebrity Interviews (including Slash and Dave Stewart [Eurythmics]), the official CMW Kick-Off Party Wednesday, March 10 at the Mod Club, Meet and Greets with select artists, and so much more.

13. I can’t make it to a CMF show one night. Can I pass my wristband off to my friend?

A: Sorry! Your wristband is intended for your use only. Once your wristband is taken off, it becomes void. Your friends all need to buy their own CMF wristband. That way you can make it out to a bunch of CMF showcases WITH your friends.

14. What happens if I go to a show and it’s already at Maximum Capacity? I still get in with my CMF wristband, right?

A: Wrong. Venues are subject to capacity, so make sure you show up early in order to see all of your favourite artists.

15. Is re-entry allowed for any CMF show?

A: Re-entry is NOT allowed for ticket holders at CMF shows. As long as you have a CMF wristband, then re-entry IS permitted, but please keep in mind that all venues are subject to capacity. So once you leave, you are not guaranteed re-entry if that venue is at capacity. Canadian Music Fest is the largest music festival of its kind. We have more than 50,000 people that come out from all over the city and around the world to hear our hottest acts. As you can imagine, our venues fill up fairly quickly.

16. I’m interested in the Music for the Screen Film Festival!

A: Our film festival team is hard at work lining up screenings of some of the coolest music-oriented films around.  For a schedule of films and what we’ll be showing, check out http://www.cmw.net/cmw2010/film_festival.asp. Film screenings take place on Friday, March 12th and Saturday, March 13th, 2010! Don’t forget, if you have a CMF Wristband, it gives you access to all Film Festival screenings! A: The Fairmont Royal York is Canadian Music Week’s host hotel. Reservations can be made online at www.fairmont.com/royalyork. You can also find other local accommodations at www.torontohotels.ca
