REMG Entertainment and Canadian Music Fest 2010 are proud to present Speech Debelle live in concert at Revival Bar on Wednesday, March 10.
Speech Debelle, the British, London-based rapper and winner of the 2009 Barclay Mercury Prize, is set to hit the stage for the first time in North America during Canadian Music Fest 2010.
Debelle’s 2009 debut album, Speech Therapy, won the Barclay Mercury music prize this September. The Annual prize is awarded to the best British album of the year,
On her debut record, Debelle speaks straight from the heart, with complete intimacy, as if only addressing one person. As if she expects the record never to be heard. It’s both intimate and epic, moving back and forth between the personal and political, the mundane and the spiritual. It’s a journey across London and a journey across her life thus far. Speech is both young and old beyond her years. At the age of twenty-six her fragile voice can make her sound like a teenager, but she’s packed in enough experience to last a lifetime.
Featuring guest appearances from Mica, of Micachu and the Shapes, and UK rapper Roots Manuva, Speech Debelle has masterfully created on her debut, an “anti-hip hop’ hip hop album of cult-like pedigree” (BBC).
Don’t miss Speech’s first North American show during Canadian Music Fest 2010. Wristbands to gain entry into this event are available for purchase at www.canadianmusicfest.com. Wristbands are limited subject to capacity
